Channel Dredging on Jalan Abdul Muis will Be Finished Next Week

The channel dredging work on Jalan Abdul Muis, Petojo Selatan, Gambir that has been carried out by Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Unit since last week is targeted to be completed next Tuesday (3/14).

So far, five cubic meters of mud have been transported

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Achmad Daeroby stated the 200-meter channel had been dredged along 156 meters or 78 percent of the target. To make the dredging work easier, his side continues to demolish the channel along 5 meters.

"Dredging has been running well this week. It is targeted to finish next week," he mentioned, Monday (3/7).

13 SDA Personnel Dredge Channel in Bukit Permai Cibubur

He explained that it is carried out because the channel as wide as 60 centimeters with 80 centimeters high was strewn by mud up to 30 centimeters thick. As a result, the water always overflowed and caused puddles when it rained heavily.

"So far, five cubic meters of mud have been transported," he added.

The work involved around 13 personnel was carried out manually using simple tools, such as a hoe, a digging fork, a crowbar, a shovel, and a dustpan.

"We hope residents will no longer throw the garbage into the channel thus blockage and siltation can be prevented," he closed.
